Enjoy a Naples city tour. Naples is all of everything and much more, a city of diverse experiences. The city of Naples is worth at least a day of anyone’s time. Naples is a chaotic, surprising and an intense place stuffed with character. Beyond prejudice and reputation, Naples has a long history at its back. There was a time, not too long ago, when Naples was one of the most important cities in Europe – a cultural capital on par with London and Paris. There was extreme wealth in the city and that was used to build incredible palaces, grand avenues, and opulent churches. On a trip to Naples these days, you can still find all of this and be surprised at how beautiful the city actually is.

Naples One Day from Rome itinerary details

The celebrated historical centre of Naples is brimming with stunning churches, fascinating museums, elegant palaces, and lively piazzas, all orbiting around a few major streets. The density of attractions means you can easily get in touch with the cultural essence of Naples while still having time to enjoy its fine wines and delicious foods, such as pizza! It may be pleasantly rough and raw, but there’s no denying that Naples is real.
However, the only real way to explore the city is walking most of the time. You will be rewarded though! While you should expect the unexpected.
With centuries upon centuries of history in the centre of Naples, it’s impossible to see everything in a day or probably even a week.  In this itinerary, we aim to condense Naples, hoping that you come back for a longer stay.  Our tour will take you to:

Piazza Dante
Piazza del Gesù Nuovo
Santa Chiara Monastery Cloister
Piazza di San Domenico Maggiore
Cappella Sansevero – The Veiled Christ
San Gregorio Armeno
Spaccanapoli
Piazza del Plebiscito
Piazza Municipio
Via Toledo

The meeting point is Roma Termini train station, where an English-speaking tour leader will wait for you. The train ride is only 1 hour and 10 minutes. Arriving in Naples at 10:20, you meet our knowledgeable English-speaking guide and start your Naples city tour. By subway, you get to Piazza Dante to start Naples city tour.

Tour Highlights

Santa Chiara Monastery Cloister

Across the piazza is Santa Chiara, a religious complex consisting of a monastery, tombs, and an archeological museum. The church was built in 1328 and badly damaged in the Second World War and, so, what you see today is a reconstruction. Santa Chiara deserves time to enjoy its beautiful cloisters decorated with nearly 30,000 majolica tiles and frescoes.

Scaturchio Pastry Shop

We are proud to treat you with a traditional Naples pastry. Choose a complimentary babà (rum-soaked dough) or sfogliatella (flaky pastry filled with ricotta and candied citrus).

The Veiled Christ

For sure, you don’t have to miss to visit Sansevero Chapel, with marble sculptures and paintings of the 18th century. It’s in this Masonic-inspired baroque chapel that you’ll find Giuseppe Sanmartino’s incredible sculpture,  the Veiled Christ. Its marble veil so realistic that it’s tempting to try to lift it and view Christ underneath. More info for Veiled Christ here.
